Give Grace

I love sharing my client’s stories through portraits and interviews. It’s an honor to be allowed a glimpse into their personal thoughts and feelings. Elise is 60 years old, a very calm soul who truly adores her children and is full of life.

Here are a few snippets from Elise’s interview.

What made you get pictures done?

I like the idea of photographing older women, something to balance out the adoration of youth, something to show how real women age and to have something special for my significant other.

How do you think the definition of beauty has changed over the years?

I think I have come to appreciate that beauty is more authentic and essentially revealing your own inter confidence and peace, more so than what you see in advertisements.  I have always shunned the more traditional views of beauty.  I don’t think it has changed so much as I have come to embrace it.

What would you tell your 20-year-old self?

Give myself the portion of the grace I extend other people.

When do you feel you were the most confident in life?

I have felt most confident when I have weathered another storm and realize I have what it takes to make it through.

How would the people around you describe you?

Very caring, loving, thoughtful person and very hardworking.

What is a myth about being over 50 you would like to dispel?

It makes you different.  You may groan a little when you stand up but I am still just as playful and youthful on the inside as I have ever been.

What advice would you give your children?

Never forget their faith.  In all the busyness in life to remember their heavenly Father and seek what he has planned for them.  To be true to themselves, have integrity and work hard.

What is on your bucket list?

Take a trip to Finland and stay in glass igloos and take in the beauty of the northern lights.

What is your favorite quote or scripture?

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

What hopes do you have for the future?

Finish out my career in a successful way and transition to a part of my life where I can enjoy more leisure time.  Enjoy my kids and future grandchildren.  I would like to stay fit and healthy so I can be apart of my grand children’s lives.
